November 29, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
A training session for voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations operating in York (United Kingdom).
This 3 hour, interactive session will provide you with the information you need to produce an Easy Read Document. The session will cover the following areas:
Why is accessible information important for people with learning difficulties? – looking at the value, empowerment and difference accessible information makes. Including personal experiences and why it matters.
What is easy read information? – looking at the history of ‘easy read’, a range of current documents and the range of different resources available to make them.
How York People First made the ‘Easy read version of the York Human Rights 5th Indicator Report 2020’? – A walk through of the process.
How to make easy read information – Including rewriting text in an easy read style, choosing images to help read the text, and how to check that easy read is easy read. This will include a practical example where we would ask participants to bring along some text from their organisation that York People First would help create into easy read.
York People First is an independent self advocacy group run by people with learning disabilities, for people with learning disabilities.
