Here is an easy read summary of a report we found in The Yorkshire Herald, Friday November 24th 1899. A meeting of the York Board of Guardians is reported. The meeting having been held the day before (23/11/1899). The Guardians are discussing and replying to ‘comments made by the Inspectors of the Local Government Board respecting the treatment of imbeciles in the workhouse’.
